Puerto Vallarta's LGBTQ+ scene isn't a single bar street — it's a whole neighborhood, a beach, and two of the biggest weeks on the international calendar. CNN has called it Mexico's top LGBT destination, and The Independent "the gay capital of Mexico".
The Zona Romántica
The heart of the scene is the Zona Romántica (Old Town south of the Cuale River), centered around Lázaro Cárdenas and Ignacio L. Vallarta streets. It's also the city's densest neighborhood for eating and drinking: we track 215 restaurants, 48 cafés and 72 bars there.
The scene has deep roots: one of the first dedicated venues, Club Paco Paco, opened in 1989. Long-running names today include bars and clubs like Paco's Ranch, CC Slaughters and Garbo, and cabaret at The Palm.

The southern end of Playa Los Muertos, by Blue Chairs, is the city's best-known gay beach, with beach clubs including Mantamar and Ritmos along the sand. The crowd is mixed and social, and busiest in the high season.
Best beaches and where it's safe to swim→Vallarta Pride — May 23–31, 2027
Vallarta Pride was first held in 2013 and usually takes place in May. The 2017 parade drew an estimated 17,000–24,000 people. For 2027, festival and circuit events run May 23–31; the parade route and full schedule are announced by the organizers closer to the date.

Bear Week brings several festivals to the Zona Romántica in late January. For 2027:
