We surface what monitored outlets and community pages report — not a police record. A quiet week here means our sources were quiet, nothing more. Trust the room you're in, the taxi you're told to take, and the flag on the beach.

General Safety Tips
🚖
Rides
Skip street taxis. Use an official sitio stand, or Uber / InDriver — especially after dark. Agree the fare before you get in if it is not metered.
📱
Emergency numbers
911 nationwide for police, fire and ambulance. Tourist police: +52 322 223-0123. CMQ Hospital runs a 24/7 private ER.
🌙
After dark
The Malecón and the main Zona Romántica / Centro streets stay busy and lit. Keep normal caution on quiet side streets and unlit stairs past midnight.
💵
Cash & cards
Draw cash from ATMs inside a bank branch or hotel lobby, in daylight. Avoid free-standing street machines.
🏖
In the water
Currents run strong on the open-ocean beaches. Swim where there is a lifeguard, read the flag, and never swim alone on a red-flag day.
🌧
Rain season (Jun–Oct)
Afternoon storms flood low streets fast and can cut the single road south of town. Check the forecast before a day trip to Yelapa or Boca.
